iOS

iOS has a built-in text-to-speech function. You need to turn it on for it to work.

  • Open your Settings app.
  • Then click on General.
  • Then click on Accessibility, then click on Speech.
  • Make sure Speak Selection and speak Screen are clicked on.
  • From here you can speed up and slow down the reading speed and change voices.

To make it read individual words or sentences:

  • Make a text selection. In the context menu that appears press Speak.

To read a whole page:

  • Place two fingers on the screen and swipe down a box will appear with controls in it. It will start reading the page.

Android has a built-in text-to-speech function. You need to turn it on for it to work.

  • Open your Settings app.
  • Scroll down to System.
  • Click on Accessibility.
  • Click on Select to Speak and then turn on the toggle.
  • (Once you turn it on an icon will appear on your home screen )

How to make it read:

  • Touch the speech bubble.

To make it read individual words or sentences:

  • Make a selection; the selection will automatically start reading.

To read a whole page:

  • Press the play button in the bottom right-hand corner.
