Tutor Assistance

Scheduled Tutoring Sessions:

During the Fall and Spring semesters...

Scheduled tutoring is offered in most 100 and 200 level undergraduate courses, as well as various 300 level courses. This small group (1-5 students) tutoring is designed for students whose schedule prevents them from attending the Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions.

  • On-site Tutoring Appointments for the courses listed above take place on campus in Strickler 107. Students may schedule a one hour weekly small group tutoring session through TutorTrac. Schedule your On-site Appointment today!

  • REACH offers undergraduate students the option of Online Tutoring for all online courses and onsite courses offered through the LRC. Our online tutoring sessions make getting help easy and convenient. Online tutors use chat and/or video chat to help students. Sessions are conducted using Google Hangouts created for online tutoring.

Drop-In Tutoring Flyer

Physics Learning Center (PLC)

The PLC is designed for drop-in tutoring.  Students with questions on a particular homework problem or questions about specific material in the class are encouraged to use the PLC.  The PLC is located in the iTech Zone in the Miller IT Center, across the hall from McAllister’s Deli.  The PLC is in the back corner of the room, away from the front desk and behind the cubicles.

The TAs are available to help with PHYS 111, 221, 222, 298, & 299 during the following times:

  • Monday           10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Tuesday           10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Wednesday     10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Thursday         10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday              10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Help with PHYS 107 is available:

  • Tuesdays         10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Thursday         10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Preparing for Graduate School?

The LRC offers FREE review sessions for graduate exams each semester.
We have tutors experienced in taking the exam as well as new review books and practice exams for your use. PREP session schedules are determined based on interest and presenter availability. These prep sessions are held in Strickler Hall, Room 111.

Tutoring for Disabled Students

Individual Tutoring for Disabled Students is available through REACH. Students with physical disabilities or diagnosed learning disabilities are provided appropriate accommodations when making a tutoring request with the LRC Coordinator. The LRC and the Disabilities Resource Center collaborate to both advise and refer students to appropriate services in both centers.

Resources in the LRC

The LRC has graduate exam prep books available for review and has desktop computers available for student use, Internet research, and Blackboard access.  Textbooks with CD Rom are available for the GRE, LSAT, and the MCAT exams.  The LRC Computer Mini-Lab should not be confused with the REACH Computer Resource Center, which is located on the first floor of Ekstrom Library.

The electronic classroom, located in Strickler Hall Room 111, is a state-of-the-art classroom with:

  • Internet-ready computer with smart board technology (LCD touch screen with pen that allows electronic writing and highlighting on the computer desktop)
  • Document projector for displaying handouts and notes not in electronic format
  • Connection available for a laptop computer or external audio/video source

UofL faculty and staff can reserve the room for classes and presentations.  Check the calendar for availability and request a reservation. Contact the LRC Coordinator to check availability or request a reservation.
