Goals

Goal 1.  Assist students in improving their academic skills and performance in college courses

Objective 1.  REACH will provide academic support services and programs for undergraduate courses.
Objective 2.  REACH will develop, support and maintain standards of good practice related to tutoring instruction, mentoring instruction and academic development.
Objective 3. REACH will maintain appropriate professional and interpersonal relationships among staff, student employees, and students receiving academic support services.
Objective 4.  REACH will consult and communicate with UofL faculty, professional staff and students regarding academic support services and programs.
Objective 5.  REACH will consult with other appropriate university centers and offices and will refer students as needed.
Objective 6. REACH will provide for academic centers and monitor these physical spaces for student services and programs.
Objective 7.  REACH will evaluate its academic support services and retention programs to ensure both support the cognitive and affective aspects of learning.
Objective 8.  REACH will assess the effectiveness of its academic support services and programs to ensure performance that supports Strategic Goal I. Kentucky’s plan to “double the numbers” of students graduating from college  in, “Office of the President: The 2020 Plan: Making It Happen.”

Goal 2.  Assist students in preparing for and adapting to college life

Objective  1.  REACH will participate in recruitment activities and orientation programs for undergraduate students.
Objective  2.  REACH will offer summer academic programs for prospective undergraduate students or enrolled undergraduate students.
Objective  3.  REACH will provide initiatives for first and second year students to assist their academic and social acculturation to college.
Objective  4.  REACH will collaborate in campus-wide initiatives to prepare and transition students to college life.

Goal 3.  Assist the university to increase the retention rates of lower division undergraduate students.

Objective 1.  REACH will provide an academic referral system for undergraduate students.
Objective 2.  REACH will provide retention initiatives for students during their first and second college years.
Objective 3.  REACH will assist with the retention of enrolled “at-risk” populations of students.
Objective 4.  REACH will assess the effectiveness of its retention programs to ensure performance that supports Strategic Goal I. Kentucky’s plan to “double the numbers” of students graduating from college in, “Office of the President: The 2020 Plan: Making It Happen.”
